HTC is known for always coming up with the smartest of android phones. One of those phones is HTC Desire 620G. There were huge expectations from this piece and it became a hit, right from the start. Available around 10K, this phone has quite some features to make you fall in love with it. But with the new smartphones are launching day by day and much cheaper phones with better updates, does HTC still have the heat? Is it still worth its salt? Let’s find out…
Design & Display
To give you an overview, the phone looks quite remarkable, but not the best. This isn’t surprising, as Desire 610 used exactly the same design. Whereas the Desire 610 looks rather cheap thanks to its abundant usage of glossy plastic, the Desire 620G has got a new matt design, a soft-touch body that gives a smarter looks than its predecessor and also feels premium made. It is available in five colors, namely are white, grey, red, green, and blue. Smart edges and curves define it looks, it feels good when you carry it and fits in your hand easily. The phone, being very light, weighs only 160 grams. Well, thanks to its manufacturers for that. The dimensions of the phone are 150×72.7×9.6mm. There’s an LED flash below the rear camera. There is micro SD card slot in the back of the phone and headphone slot sized 3.5mm towards the right side of the phone.
When it comes to display, the screen is 5 inches with HD IPS display and the resolution is 720×1280 pixels which is another much-needed improvement over the 610’s 4.7 inch 960×540 display, as text, icons and web pages are now much easier to read. Its 294 Pixels per inch(PPI) is also good. HTC’s Sense 6.0 UI (User Interface) which looks keen-edged while browsing through Android 4.4’s home screens. The image quality department is a bit disappointment, though; with colors lacking depth and vibrancy. Even the contrast was an average. Being in bright sunlight might bring some trouble in seeing the screen, so the brightness level needs to be the maximum. Gorilla glass is another boost here.
Storage & Processor
The Desire 620G is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor running at 1.7 GHz processor, paired with 1GB RAM, for high-quality performance. This produced far better performances than last year’s Snapdragon 400 chipset. Overall, its processor is great and supports 4G network too. The device performs well enough, even when the high-quality games are played.
Talking about storage, there is 8GB internal memory out of which only 5.6 GB is available to the users. The memory can be expandable up to 128 GB, by using microSD card facility
Camera & Operating System
Talking about the camera and its functions, it is something that doesn’t disappoint. The primary camera is 8MP (megapixels) with LED flash and there are plenty of details on the show. The resolutions of the camera are 3624 x 2248 pixels. Fascinating, isn’t it?
The front camera is also good with a compatibility of 5 megapixels, 1080 pixels with no flash. And that is not just it. There are many other features like face detection, touch focus, autofocus and panorama effect. The camera’s HDR mode was also impressive as it helps the sky to be exposed much more accurately, so leaving this mode active when shooting outside might help. Both cameras are equipped to record 1080p Full HD video. But the stand out feature is the auto-focus, which brings photos to live and turns everyone into a photographer.
The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS and the skin is HTC Sense 6.0. The CPU runs on dual-core 1.7 GHz and the GPU runs on Adreno 306. There are no facilities like java and infrared provided by the phone. There are inbuilt connectivity apps like GPS, FM and Bluetooth v4.00 available. Sensors like accelerometer, ambient light sensor and proximity sensors are present, though sensors like gyroscope, barometer and temperature are not present. The phone comes with all these features and a warranty of one whole year.
If there’s one thing forgettable about this phone, it is the battery life. The battery is removable. The battery life is 2100 mAh which on standby mode it can work up to 650 h and talk time up to 16 h (3 g). There’s a bigger screen to power this time, so the slight jump up comes as no surprise. But there was much more expected from this department.

Overall, the phone is suitable for everyone and definitely it is better than Desire 610 model. The phone is a good gadget, created by HTC and one must try it out.
