The Huawei Honor 4X is doing well in the market, but is losing to well known brands like Mircromax, Lenovo and HTC that sell the same specs for almost the same price with brand power which honor is yet to create in the industry. Let us see if the features of 4X actually beat the other competitors at least here. The Huawei Honor 4X offers Dual LTE connectivity for under 10,000 rupees which is quite a catch as most of the phones in the same price range do not have a single dedicated LTE connectivity SIM.
Huawei Honor 4X Review
Design and looks:
The phone looks plain and does not have many details to it. The phone bezel space in the front is too much and cutting it off could have made it look much better. The textured back cover looks a bit more appealing than the front and provides the right grip. The placement of the camera on the right corner along with an LED flash is stylish. But otherwise, there is not much to look into the style aspect of this phone. The phone weighs 170 grams, which feels a bit heavy when compared to all the slim and light phones that are in the market now. It is evident that Huawei hasn’t paid any attention to all these extra details. The back cover is removable but the battery isn’t.
The power and the volume rocker buttons are placed on the right hand side one below the other.
Its main competitors are Xiomi Note 4G and Yu Yureka which have an upper hand as they offer very similar specs for just 9000 rupees.
Huawei Honor 4X features an impressive 5.5 inch IPS display screen. The resolution is 1280×720 pixels which is approximately 267 pixels per inch. The sharpness is average, but the colors are very vibrant and the display is good. The keys do not have a backlight which is quite problematic in the dark to locate them. The glass does not scratch resistant, almost all the phones now have a scratch resistance layer protecting the screen, and this can be seen as a huge disadvantage. It also does not have a waterproof or a dust proof screen while even cheaper phones have this feature.
Processor and Memory:
The phone operates on a simple 1.2 GHz Quad core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Processor. The RAM is 2GB so a good performance is delivered due to the extra RAM space. The internal storage given is 8GB which is expandable up to 32GB. It does not cause any lags and there is a smooth flow even while switching between the apps. The performance this phone delivers is above average for a 10,000 rupees phone.
The primary camera given is 13 megapixels and the secondary camera is 5 megapixels. It captures average-good image. There is still a lot of things like balance and contract that the final images lack, especially the ones taken indoor. There are a lot of side options and features for the camera like the ultrafast shoot which lets you click pictures by pressing the volume up button twice. The camera also has a wider lens which lets you capture and fit many things in a single frame. The camera also has auto-focus mode.
The phone can record full HD videos with a smooth playback.
Softwares Supporting Honor 4X:
The Huawei Honor 4X runs on Android v4.4.4 which can be upgraded to Lollipop. The phone has Emotion User Interface which is highly customizable to your liking and it is very user-friendly. The only downside is that it does not have an app-drawer; the apps are just arranged in a grid, instead. There are a lot of the necessary apps on the phone and less bloatware. There are a few gestures controlled options like shaking arranges apps. The interface is a mix of both Samsung and Apple’s interfaces. The interface hasn’t perfected its form yet; Huawei still needs time to bring out a unique interface with no glitches. Hopefully, its next models will not carry the same mistakes that this one carries.
The Dual LTE connectivity is the USP of this phone. Many of its competitors do not have even a single SIM LTE connectivity so it beats a lot of phones when it comes to connectivity options. The phone also promises a reduced fallback to 3G, but unless and until cities get proper towers, it is not for the phone companies to decide.
Battery Backup Life:
The Huawei Honor 4X has a 3000mAh battery. The battery life of this phone is very good for a 10,000 rupees phone. The battery can for two days under normal usage. This could be an Honor’s advantage over its competitors. The battery supports the HD display and does not slow down the system in any way which is great. The disadvantage is that the battery cannot be replaced. The phone features a non-removable battery for reasons unknown.
Verdict of Huawei Honor 4x Review:
The Huawei Honor 4X is an amazing phone for the price it offers. It scores well in terms of performance, which is the most sought after feature these days. But with phones like Redmi note which has the same specs, no one would go for Huawei just to avoid the risk of being proven wrong. The phone still needs a lot of improvements in order to get ahead, but for the price, the features this phone offers and performance it delivers is well worth the money.
