The Huawei Honor 6 Plus was launched in the month of January this year not even a month after the release of Honor 6. It is yet to be released in India. The Honor 6 plus has some significant changes from Honor 6 in the important aspects like battery, internal storage and camera. The changes are well suited and are fine improvements to make the already dashing Honor 6, better. The Honor 6 plus was released to offer the customers what the iPhone lacked, good camera, expandable storage and bigger battery. The Honor 6 plus has some competitions in the market are One plus one, LG G3 and Xiomi MI 3, but Honor 6 plus seems to beat all these rivals with many advantages and tricks up the sleeve. The Honor 6 plus looks like a winner when it comes to the specifications.
Huawei Honor 6 Plus Review
Design and looks:
The Honor 6 plus is a slim and sleek model just like the Honor 6. Both are just 7.5mm thick and they claim to have a Metal Unibody finish. The back cover has a texture which can be seen significantly in the Gold model. The phone gives a beautiful glare when it comes under the light. Like all the other models the rear camera is placed on the right side corner. This phone has dual rear cameras which are placed side by side and the LED flash sits right next to the camera. The bezel space is still an unappealing factor in the phones but the textured design follows the bezel on this model instead of a black plain bezel splce like in the other models, this feature makes it look quite distinguished and unique. The Power button, volume rocker and the slots for SIM and microSD card are all placed on the Right side of the phone. The left looks pretty empty and does not hold much so the hold is very comfortable.
It feels just right in your arms: not too heavy, not too light.
The display screen got an upgrade from its previous model; this model now features a 5.5 inch IPS LCD screen which is 0.5 inches bigger than its predecessor. The 1080×1920 screen resolution is breathtaking and houses approximately 401 pixels per inch. The resolution is stunning and the images are sharper than ever before. The resolution goes with the 5.5 inch screen and does not create any blurs. The colors are rich and vibrant too and the viewing angles do not suffer much even in the sunlight. The texts are sharp and clear.
Battery Backup Life:
Battery got an upgrade from the previous model. The Huawei Honor 6 features a 3600 mAh Li-Po battery which is sadly non-removable. The battery life though is just as big as it seems. It can last easily over a day under normal usage. The battery life of over a day for a phone this big offering so many features is a great deal.
The phone operates on an Octa-core processor, one 1.8 GHz Quad core Cortex A15 processor and another 1.3 GHz Quad core Cortex A7 processor. Hence, the performance is not compromised here at all and the chipset also got a minor change over, it now operates on the HiSilicon Kirin 925 chipset. There are no complains to make here, you can play all the high-end games without experiencing any lags as such. The Mali-T628 MP4 Graphic Processing Unit works quite well supporting all high-end graphics.
With such a powerful processor, one will not experience any crashing of apps or delays.
The phone offers a very good 32GB internal memory out of which 25GB is usable. This is again an improvement from the previous model which housed only 16GB of internal space. The 3GB RAM is the same as the previous model. But it works well with all these other features and is more suitable for this model than the previous model.
The Honor 6 plus promises expandable storage with a microSD slot up to 128 GB. But from the looks of it, it seems to have only two slots on the whole so one will have to choose between the second SIM and microSD again like all other phones. It is not yet confirmed whether it has another slot for microSD which is highly unlikely so you can imagine the frustration that the customers will go through when they find this out.
Honor 6 Plus Operating System and User Interface:
The Honor 6 plus operates on the Android v4.4.2 (KitKat) which is upgradable to Lollipop. The Phone uses an updated version of the Emotion User Interface called Huawei EMUI 3.0 while the previous model had only EMUI 2.3. This colorful User Interface is beginning to enthrall its users with smart updates but this model does not have Google Play services which is a shame and will be hated but all Google-centered users. The UI interface is smooth for handling and does not have any problems on its own but sacrificing Google Services is a bold move that only few can take. This interface lacks an app drawer and all the services and apps are placed in a customizable grid.
The phone goes after iPhone 6’s dual camera idea and features a Dual 8MP-8MP rear camera. The advantage Huawei has over iPhone is that it offers much better resolution and pixels. The focusing is brilliant and it would be a perfect for a person who loves clicking pictures. The front camera also got an update; it now has an 8MP lens which shoots great indoor and outdoor pictures. The improvement in the camera can be seen in the output.
The phone also records Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution videos at 30 fps. The other camera features include, beauty mode, panorama mode, watermark, auto-focus, HDR, wide aperture and Ultra snapshot which lets you take pictures without having to switch on the phone.
The camera is outstanding and definitely an improvement from the previous model.
The phone offers 4G connectivity.
Huawei Honor 6 plus is a great phone for the price it offers. With people going crazy over the Honor 6 model, an improved version will receive a warm welcome. It poses a serious competition to its rivals with its only downside being not having some Google services. Otherwise the phone is a great performer and has an endless list of benefits.
