Intex has recently launched its new handset Aqua Dream on the company’s website. There is no official word of its release yet but it sure seems to be a stunner. Intex which usually manufactures low-budget smartphones for new users is slowly trying to climb up the ladder of success and get to the top. The Indian manufacturer has a long way to go but it seems to have started on the right note.
The Intex Aqua dream is priced for 10,000 rupees and has features worth the money. Only thing that can help the company establish a spot is right performance. If this phone manages to perform well then it is sure to defeat its main competitor, Karbonn in the game. Karbonn which has been producing both low-budget and budget-friendly smartphones has been its tight competitor besides Celkon.
The Intex Aqua dream is a Dual-SIM smartphone with both the SIMs offering 3G and it also has a good 5.5 inch display screen. The new smart phone users who have been buying Intex and are happy with the quality might like this upgraded new model. Let’s have a quick look at its features.
The phone offers Dual-SIM facility which is much preferred by the new smartphone users and the current generation alike.
The phone looks modest with a simple rounded edges design. The front display screen has a speaker at the top and the front camera while the lower bezel is occupied by three capacitive buttons for navigation. The back cover has a rubbery grip and the camera is placed on the top right corner along with the LED flash. The look and colors give out a warm look and it certainly looks like it will feel comfortable for handling. It weighs quite heavy though, the specifications on the website say that it might weigh up to 145g which is not bad for a 5.5 inch phone but it nevertheless, seems heavy.
The phone is available in three colors, white, black, and champagne blue.
The display screen measures 5.5 inches with a HD resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The resolution seems right for the 5.5 inch display screen and we are sure there will not be any pixilation of large images or icons. Intex seems to have done well with the display. The IPS display ensures sharper images for clarity. The larger display screen will definitely appeal to the new smart phone users who are looking for a budget-friendly upgrade.
The Intex Aqua dream defeats Karbonn in terms of performance as it sports a 1.4 GHz Octa-Core processor. Offering Octa-core processor for below 10,000 is a huge give away. But most of the phones in this price range also have an Octa-core processor. The processor operates on the MediaTek MT6592M chipset which has received positive reviews until now. We don’t think you’ll have any problem with the performance as the Intex Aqua dream seems to be in a position to deliver the best of it. The handset also has 1GB RAM which is ample to give you a smooth lag-free experience.
The phone comes with an internal memory of 8GB which is quite a bummer when compared to its main competitor Karbonn is offering 16GB in the new Karbonn Platinum P9. It would be sufficient if Intex has not filled it with unnecessary bloatware. Unnecessary bloatware might sometimes even slow down the clock speed of the processor. The storage can be expanded up to 32GB with the help of a microSD card which is great considering the fact that some of the handsets either do not have expandable storage or they give you the choice between second SIM and microSD.
Battery Backup Life:
The Intex Aqua Dream has a 2300mAh battery. The battery will easily last for a day and give you approximately 7 hours of talk time under heavy usage. Any other lower battery would have not functioned well.
The phone operates on Android v4.4.2 which is the latest version of KitKat. No news has been said about the upgrade to Lollipop and when it will be available on Intex handsets. It runs entirely on Android OS and User Interface. There are not many modifications done to the UI which is good as it means that the software is not bloated with unnecessary features and apps. The Android UI is very user-friendly and the updated version has little perks of its own. This version still has the app drawer intact which is much adored by the new-users. Google now has a lot of improvements in this version. This is the best user-interface for any new user as it retains the simplicity and has all the new features.
The Intex Aqua Dream has a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash. The camera features include Auto Focus, Panorama Shot, face beauty which lets you enhance all your pictures to give you the perfect look, Live photo mode which lets you take moving pictures, continuous shots, voice capture, HDR mode, Smile shot which automatically clicks pictures every time you smile, face detection and zero shutter delay. The phone also lets you capture your selfies without a hassle by just clicking the volume up & down key or by Bluetooth or by earphone button. These settings can be customized to meet your needs.
The 5MP front camera has similar features and has a lot of modes that one can try on.
All you new smart phone users who are looking for an upgrade but not sure if you are ready for the high-tech stuff, can go head and buy this phone. It is humble looking and has a lot of great features. Performance won’t be an issue because of the Octa-core processor and 1GB RAM. The 5.5 inch display with good resolution and an average camera with lot of features can be your gateway to experiencing most of the high-end features in your budget. The Intex Aqua Dream is a stunner when it comes to specifications but only time will tell if it’s worth the money.
