Intex Aqua Octa Review

The Background

Intex is one of the brands that usually develop low quality mobiles. Actually, this brand has started its journey by developing budget friendly PC accessories like power supplies, cabinets, mice, keyboards, etc.

Most recently, Intex has also started manufacturing mobile phones as the future of mobile market is quite optimistic. With the same motto: Performance First and Appearance Next, this mobile maker has developed more than 80 mobile models mostly rated below Rs. 7,000.

However, the Intex Aqua Octa is one among the budget mobiles. This mobile phone is one of the latest outcomes of Intex and was launched in January 2014. The mobile maker has released this mobile with the price tag of Rs. 7,499 in two different color variants such as Black and White colours.

In this post, let us have brief information regarding the latest version of Intex, the Aqua Octa.

Intex Aqua Octa Design & Looks

Similar to the other Android based smart phones; the Intex Aqua Octa is also a large sized rectangular device with rounded sides. Both variants of this model have a same black metallic rim at their front side. Some space is reserved for the camera and speaker grille on the front side’s top, whereas the traditional capacitive buttons are on the bottom. Coming to the rear side, it is quite flat except a small up for the camera lens projection. Two speaker grilles are organized at the two edges, whereas an unimpressive red colored logo is designed in the rear middle.

However, the build quality of this mobile is quite impressive, but there are some areas in where some improvement must be done.

At the first glance, the phone looks good with great design. But one’s opinion may change if he has a closer observation over this mobile. Most specifically, the button department is very simple and weak. Even the Micro-USB port has some issues with the plug seating.

This mobile comes with a removable plastic back cover, which assists for higher grip. Under the cover, one can find slots for a micro-SD card and two SIM cards. The main SIM card slot is designed for only standard SIMs, whereas the secondary slot is for a micro-SIM. However, one can access to these slots only if he removes the battery. Similar to the other branded mobiles, the power button is positioned on the top edge of this mobile.

Considering the measurements, this mobile is measured about 160.06 x 80.86 x x7.00 mm and weight is about 180 grams.

The Hardware Specifications

The Intex Aqua Octa gets power from a 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 mobile processor, which is integrated with a Mali 450-MP GPU. Intex claims that the octa processor associated with this mobile is the greatest performer available in the budget category.

Talking of internal memory, this mobile is featured with a 16 GB internal storage capacity that can be expanded up to 32 GB by using a micro SD card. The phone maker has designed this mobile with a 6-inch display, which is made of One Glass Solution. This display looks bright and offers clear view, since it was designed with 720p resolution. As the screen comes as an IPS panel, one can view it from different angles. The standard brightness is enough if you are in low light conditions, but the brightness has to be increased up to maximum to see the contents in sun light. Since the display comes with High Definition technology, one can have pleasant experience while watching movies and playing games over the mobile.

Coming to the part of photography, this mobile is really exclusive in this department. Even though this is a budget smart phone, it comes with impressive front and rear cameras. In other words, this mobile is especially developed for the customers who are very specific about taking images and selfies.

The mobile comes with a 13 megapixel rear camera, which is featured with an autofocus facility. Moreover, it has a LED flash to shoot images in low light conditions. In addition, the mobile has a 5-MP front-facing camera, which is especially designed to take selfies and participating in video calls.

One can shoot really good images with the rear camera in bright lights, but the performance is slightly lowered in low light conditions. The mobile lets the user to set the primary camera in different modes such as motion tracking mode, panorama mode, voice-triggered capture, smile shot, 30-shot burst mode, and a self timer.

Apart from the images, one can shoot decent and sharp videos with the rear camera. Even though the standard video resolution is 720p, the user can select 1080p resolution too as per his requirement.

The mobile comes packed with a 2300 mAh battery, which has unimpressive capacity. It cannot power the mobile for a day; even there is no heavy usage. Therefore, it is really disgusting to charge this mobile twice a day. If you are mobile freak, then better don’t go for this mobile.

Aqua Octa OS, Apps & Software

The Intex Aqua Octa is preloaded with the Android 4.2.2 operating system with minor cosmetic improvements. Even after the improvements, the software department stands as one of the major downsides of this mobile.

The software is full of malfunctions and also associated with many unnecessary applications. Fortunately, these applications can be deleted, but removing applications is really irritating.

Considering the call quality, it is not impressive as the output volume is not louder. Therefore, one cannot hear the other person’s voice in noisy environments.

The Verdict of Intext Aqua Octa Review

There is a mixed reaction after Intex launched this mobile. Since the overall performance is okay and this handset is priced at low price, it is considered as a Decent Budget Smartphone.  One can purchase this mobile for its camera efficiency and performance. However, it should be avoidable due to its blotware software and inefficient battery.

If you are looking to purchase a mobile that has decent performance under heavy loads, then better go for this. Moreover, this is a comparatively affordable Smartphone with a large display, which is a major commercial factor.
