Intex, the Indian manufacturer launched a new range of budget-friendly smartphones which include the Intex Aqua Xtreme V which was launched in March 2015. It is currently available on all the leading e-commerce websites for just 10,000 rupees in India, which is pretty nominal for the brilliant features that it offers. It is the next model of Aqua Xtreme which was sold for Rs. 11,490. The only difference between Intex Aqua Xtreme V and its predecessor is that the Intex Xtreme has 32GB internal storage while this model has only 16GB internal storage. Rest of the specifications is here to stay.
Intex has done well with the design and the specifications offered are also pretty great for Price 10,000 rupees. You can get your hands on all the high-end features.
The Intex Aqua Xtreme V has 5-inch IPS display screen with a resolution of about 980x1200pixels which provide a striking sharp display. The display is one that cannot be complained about as the colors are vibrant and the images are sharp. The viewing angles are also great but the visibility is greatly reduced in the sunlight. The display is protected with a layer of dragontrail glass instead of the Corning Gorilla glass that is usually used in all the handsets. It provides good scratch resistance and one cannot tell the difference between the two protection layers. The dragontrail protection layer does not reduce the image clarity, the sharpness is intact.
The design and build of the Intex Aqua Xtreme V is similar to its predecessor in every aspect. The Intex Aqua Xtreme V has rounded edges which give it a basic phone look. The phone has bezel space on top and the bottom which provides space for the speaker and 5MP front camera at the top and the three capacitive buttons which include the home button, navigation button and back button at the bottom. The back cover has a slight glare to it and the camera is placed stylishly on a small rectangular box that is made just for the camera and the LED flash. The rectangular box with the camera and flash is of a darker shade of the same color and hence it is distinguished brilliantly. The brand name is just inscribed in the bottom of the phone.
The phone is available in silver, black and in also in a stunning red color.
The phone weighs only 120grams which is light for a 5-inch phone. The handle looks comfortable and it is sure to fit in your pockets.
The phone has a 13MP rear camera with a LED flash to provide light under poor lighting conditions. The camera produces some amazing high-quality pictures. It also comes with a 5MP secondary camera which is great for clicking selfies on the go. The camera quality gives Intex Aqua Xtreme V an advantage over the Karbonn phone that fall under the same price range as camera has never been Karbonn’s strongest asset. Some great features like smile shot, panorama shot, face detection, geo-tagging, gesture shot are also given. You can also click selfies by just pressing either the Volume button or the microphone.
The Intex Aqua Xtreme comes with 16GB of internal storage. Most of the smartphones that fall under the same price range offer only 8GB of internal storage, hence this can be considered as its Unique Selling Proposition. The internal memory can also be expanded with a microSD card for up to 32GB. Many of the pre-installed apps can be deleted to free space. We are not entirely sure of how much blaotware is installed but a good 12GB of user space will win customers. It would be really disappointing if the software and bloatware occupy more than 8GB of space.
The Intex Aqua Xtreme V runs on Android v4.4.2 which is upgradable to Lollipop. Lollipop software takes up a lot of internal space; this might be one of the reasons why Intex had cleverly offered 16GB internal space.
Processor and RAM:
The phone operates on a 1.7GHz Octa-core processor which is the most that any phone fewer than 10,000 rupees offers. The 1.7GHz processor is powerful for providing a smooth performance. It operates on a MediaTek Chipset. The processor coupled with the 2GB RAM seems like a powerful combination and Intex could have not gone wrong with the performance. The phone sounds perfect for playing all high-end games.
Graphic processing unit:
The Intex Aqua Xtreme V has as Mali 450 GPU which is suitable for playing all high-end games.
Battery Backup Life:
The Intex Aqua Xtreme V has a 2000mAh battery. The battery is capable of providing you with 7hours of talk time and 19 hours stand by time. The phone seems to lack power saving modes which can be seen in phones with high-end features. The phone’s battery might drain out soon with the HD display running all the time.
The phone’s major downside is that it offers only 3G connectivity. The phone has all essential connectivity options like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, etc.
Conclusion of Intex Aqua Xtreme V Review:
The Intex Aqua Xtreme V is a great package and has a lot of great features put together but while concentrating on all the major features, Intex has forgotten to look into simple things like Speakers, audio and other bugs that cause problems. A lot of customers are not happy with the audio quality. If Intex fixes all the bugs and problems caused in its system updates, this model will get the attention it deserves.
The Intex Aqua Xtreme V will not be the first choice of many smartphone users but it will definitely serve as a great deal to the new smart phone users who are looking for an upgrade. It all comes down to how well the phone performs and how long the performance lasts, if the phone is going to stop working after two or three months of use, it is going to be a waste of money and only proper system updates will keep such problems at bay.
