Canvas Nitro A311 Introduction
Micromax Canvas Nitro A311 was launched last year in the month of December and promised amazing features and technology at a competitive price. The phone featured with 5 inch HD IPS Screen offering 720×1280 pixels powered by MediaTek MT6592 chipset with the Octa-core processor. A 13MP primary camera is also provided in the phone. Micromax launched this set with an aim to capture the low budget market segment of smartphones and competes against its competitors that include the likes of Asus, Motorola and Xiaomi.
The Micromax Canvas Nitro A311 has an average design and there is nothing special about the design feature of the phone. The front of the phone looks really plain and there was nothing much that captured our attention. The back of this phone has a matte leather finish and gives a sober appearance to it. The phone comes with a removable back cover so you can access the battery and the slots for SIM and MicroSD card. There are two slots are given for SIM and one slot for the MicroSD card, the only problem you can have with it is that for using another MicroSD card you have to switch off the phone and remove the battery to access the slot.
The phone is easy to moderate in the range of handling as its dimensions are 141.30 x 71.90 x 8.90 mm and so it really poses no problem to use it with one hand only. The phone weighs around 154 g which makes it really heavy and so you can’t use it continuously for the long duration of time. It is available in two color variants namely Mesmerizing Blue and Pristine White.
The Micromax Canvas Nitro A311 has been provided with 5 inch HD IPS screen having 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. The phone has approximately 294 pixels per inch that produce a really vibrant and colorful screen. We had no problems with the color reproduction or with the viewing angles, but the biggest downside with this phone is its reflective display. We had trouble using the phone in sunlight as the display screen was very reflective. The phone is multi-touch enabled.
The Micromax Canvas Nitro A311 comes with a 16GB internal memory which can be expanded to 32GB using MicroSD card provided under the back cover. The phone also comes with a 2 GB RAM.
The Micromax Canvas Nitro A311 has powered MediaTek MT6592 chipset with 1.7GHz octa-core processor. The phone works really nice and we faced no issues with its performance, we found no lag and delayed touch response whatsoever from this phone even when we played high-end games on it. The processor works really well and you will surely have a great smartphone experience using this phone. The phone was able to play heavily encoded videos without any interruption or graphic distortion. The overheating problem can be an issue sometimes. The speaker provided in the phone is really smooth and gives loud and crisp sound, the only problem we found out with the speaker was that the sound distorted at full volume.
The Micromax Canvas Nitro A311 is provided with a 13 MP primary camera that has features like Smile detection, Face Detection, Touch focus, Autofocus, Video player, Video streaming, HDR mode with LED Flashlight. The secondary camera is of 5MP, the video recording is done with 1080p picture quality. The thing to note here is that no optical image stabilization is provided in the camera which can make images shaky. The promised 13MP camera doesn’t deliver, as the images captured with this phone lack clarity and details. The camera also works less efficiently in low lighting conditions. We found out that the focus function of the camera was also not up to the mark. The camera app provided in the phone has really amazing features like saying ‘Cheese’ to capture images. The camera function has a lot of room for improvements and the app needs to be more organized.
Battery Backup Life
The Micromax Canvas Nitro A311 is powered by a 2500mAh removable Li-On battery that promises talk time up to 10 hours and standby time up to 320 hours. The battery performs just like average smartphones and nothing special about it
The Canvas Nitro A311 runs on the Android platform with 4.4.2, KitKat version. The phone has borrowed many features from HTC and Samsung like the Quick Look page, which is accessed by going left of the home screen, looks just like the HTCs Blink feed feature. The phone comes loaded with tons of 3rd party apps and games which act like nothing but bloatware, one thing we observed was that many of the apps that come preinstalled in the set cannot be uninstalled. The best feature in the UI we observed was the use of Swift Key as the default writing keyboard which works amazingly well.
