LG G Flex 2 – Too hot to handle, literally!

With the introduction of Flex phone last year it seemed like a joke in the market and did not obviously fetch many buyers at all. The phone flexible phone seemed like a distant fantasy that everyone dreamed of but no one wanted to take the risk with. It also had a self healing back panel which created so much hype in the market. Even with all these ne introductions being proven working it still seems unbelievable and that’s the only reason why it does not have many buyers. With the 2nd installation of this phone being released in February this year it still faces the same cold response as its predecessor. But the phone has actually got some technical improvements which boost the performance and take this phone to a whole new level. For now, everything and nothing is a competition to this phone as users are still confused to buy this phone. This phone cannot be compared to any other handset right now, as it is a unique position featuring unique specifications maybe it can be compared to the iPhone 6 because it bends and all (haha) but otherwise it cannot be put up against anything. It is on a league of its own.

LG G Flex Design and looks:

The curved phone looks beautiful and the curve is just perfectly placed. The effort taken to perfect the curve is very visible in the output. The curved screen gives you a new viewing experience. The phone is not flexible as the name suggests it just aims at giving a new angle to the viewers which is quite unique and comfortable. It is also designed to fit to the body shape.

There are no buttons on the side or top, instead the power and volume rocker buttons are placed at the back of the phone right below the camera. The index finder can easily reach out to these and it does not create any troubles at all.

The phone has a self-healing back cover which is capable of healing any scratches. The phone requires a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius for doing so and this process can be sped up by rubbing the phone in the scratched area to keep it warm. This is a great feature and is almost unbelievably good.

The phone does not have a metallic build; it has a plastic frame so one cannot expect a premium feel out of it. The back cover is very glossy so the grip is a bit of a problem there but a scratch resistant and self-healing cover makes it up for the lack of grip.

Display Features:

The phone has a 5.5 inch P-OLED curved display screen with a striking resolution of 1080×1920 pixels which give a pixel density of 03 ppi. The curved display in any way does not affect the resolution or the display in general the colors are vibrant and contract is spot-on and the images are sharp. The front just like the rear has scratch resistance with a protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layering the screen. The display is great.

Battery Backup Life:

The phone operates on a 3000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery which might seem less for the features but it serves them just right. The phone delivers an uninterrupted supply without any lags. But playing high-end games might reduce the capacity of the battery in the long run.

LG G Flex 2 features a Qualcomm’s new Octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, the 810 is split into two parts – a lesser power 1.6GHz quad-core processor for light duties and also more powerful and power starving 2GHz quad-core processor. It is fast in its duties and also in the process of heating up. It heats up way too quickly even while installing apps and performing such tasks that take a lot of time. This is a real downside to the whole phone and it has the power of overshadowing all its great features. If the company does not take effort in rectifying the heating up of phones, it is sure that the model will go into failure.

Memory Storage:

The phone has two models when it comes to internal space and based on the requirements the 16GB internal storage device has a 2GB RAM while the 32GB RAM had a 3GB RAM. This separation can cause a bit of a furor among the users. The 16GB device will need an equally demanding 3GB RAM for better functioning according to us.

Flex 2 Operating system and User Interface:

The phone operates on Android v5.0.1 (Lollipop). The phone gives a lot of customization options to the user. The phone features a new feature called knock lock screen security which lets you lock and unlock the phone with just a few taps on the home screen. This is a new update and it is pretty exciting feature to try. The user interface is friendly and notably not much different from a typical android device.

Camera Features:

The phone has a 13MP rear camera which has the capacity to shoot brilliant pictures outside and inside. Each picture has a striking resolution of 4128 x 3096 pixels and with features like laser autofocus, optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash the image enhancement in this device is simply amazing. The secondary camera is a dud though because it has only 2MP lens and the picture quality is average.

Videos can be shot for 2160 pixels at 30 fps and with image stabilization and stereo sound record the videos are of high and good quality.

Connectivity options:

It offers all the basic connectivity options in addition to 4G connectivity.
