The best part is, though selfies is the main USP of this phone there are numerous other perks to owning this handset. This handset was launched in December 2014 when the selfie craze was at its peak. With every brand and every maker trying to woo the customers by offering anything related to selfies on the plate, Micromax has managed to win the customers over with a 13 MP front and rear cameras. If you think Micromax must have compromised on the performance, you are terribly mistaken. The performance is brilliant too. Let’s have a look at what makes this phone a must buy!
Micromax Canvas Selfie A255 Review
The designing team has gone wild with the new and unique design. In a never before seen unique model it have arched edges and the placement of cameras in the front and the back is very stylishly done. It comes in a metallic frame with a finish so sharp that the designing team requires a special round of applause. It can be seen that the volume rocker is placed on the side and unlike most of its designs the power button is placed right on the top alongside the audio jack. The design is quite appealing.
A good IPS LCD display screen of 4.7 inches covered by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection with a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels can be seen in the Canvas Selfie. This resolution allows approximately 312 ppi pixel density which is remarkable. The images are sharp and the colors are very vibrant. The Corning Gorilla Glass does not slim down the display in this model as it does in some other phones.
Micromax Canvas Selfie A255 mobile phone is available in two colors, White and Sapphire. It is evident that Micromax didn’t choose the old-fashioned black on purpose to look unique. But black is timeless. Nevertheless, the colors give a wonderful finish to the phone.
The phone is handy and does not feel overweight at all. It fits nicely and can be handled single handedly.
The handset runs on a 1.7 GHz Octa-core Mediatek processor. This is coupled with a 2GB RAM, so performance won’t be an issue at all in this phone. Also, offering Octa-core processor in this price range is another advantage that will draw buyers to this product. It does not cause any lags whatsoever. You can easily multi-task and play games for hours without any trouble.
Canvas Selfie A255 mobile notably features a 13 MP front and rear camera. The 13MP cameras are great both for indoor and outdoor shots. Outdoor shots are the best. When you just think that’s more than enough, there are other features to enhance the pictures. There is oil removal tool that enhances your face if it looks oily, make up application tool lets you apply lipstick, blush, etc. after the image is taken, and there is also Eye enhancement, Face Slimming, Skin smoothening, fade dark circle and teeth whitening features. You can now change your look without any effort. Using these tools does not obviously give a realistic finish to the pictures but it is still fun. The natural selfies look beautiful anyway so you can leave it to your phone to expose the beauty in you.
There is also a dedicated camera button on the right side edge. This makes it easier to click selfies on the go.
Overall, if you have a craze for taking pictures or selfies you will love this phone and you will never regret buying this.
There are two LED flashes, one for the front camera and a dual LED flash for the rear camera. The front LED is built in and is barely noticeable on the display screen while the dual LED flashes at the rear camera are placed like gems on the either side of the Camera opening.
Videos can be shot for 1080 pixels resolution at 30 frames per second.
The phone comes with 16 GB internal storage, with nearly 2GB of unnecessary apps and bloat-ware. However, it is expandable up to 32 GB.
Battery Backup Life:
It works on a 2300 mAh battery which lasts for a day easily. The battery fairly supports all the functions and provides uninterrupted supply without heating up or lagging. This is quite amazing for a phone which is loaded with hundreds of unique HD features.
The phone operates on Android 4.4.2 which is upgradable to Lollipop. The UI is not a typical interface that is found on the Android devices, Micromax modified some of the looks and it slightly represents iOS in the design. It is user-friendly. The interface has too many colors on it though. Too bright for decent use.
In almost all of the metal body framed handsets, Micromax gives a single slot for the memory card and second SIM which is quite disappointing if you want to use both. Hopefully, Micromax will find a solution of this in its upcoming models.
The home button keeps blinking for no reason. It’s quite unnecessary and useless.
The phone is great if you are a selfie-addict and you are looking for a good phone that takes selfies in this price range. You will love it for all the additional fun features it has. Even performance wise it is great for the price you pay. The only difference between this phone and its competitors is that Canvas Selfie offers both fun with no compromise on the performance and design for a cheap rate. It is one of the best phones that Micromax has ever produced.
