Samsung Galaxy S6 – Upcoming phone Review & Specifications

Samsung Galaxy S6 has been building up rumor mills ever since its mention last year. The phone is rumored to be launched on March 1 in the MWC meet. The phone’s features are as exciting as the new design it is set to offer. The Samsung Galaxy S5 was given thumbs down hence the people think S6 will have a better design and build. The S5 got a lukewarm response from the buyers and Samsung has recently started cutting down the price of its devices after realizing that high-priced devices don’t work in the market anymore due to the increase in competition and other makers offering the same features at a lower price. The Galaxy S6 is said to be available in two models with the one model having a curved display feature known as the Edge. The Note Edge got mixed reviews with some users saying the feature was useless and other claiming that it is really innovative.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Specifications:

Display: The S6 is rumored to have a 5-inch Super AMOLED display screen with curved glass and Corning Gorilla glass screen.

Body: Since Samsung has engaged itself in producing only Metal body phones off late, S6 is also said to have a metal frame in a plastic body.

Resolution: The display will also feature a high resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels with as much as 587 ppi pixel density.

Camera: The reason it has been making so much news is because of the 16MP primary camera. Samsung has in the past, offered a maximum of 16MP primary camera in the Note 4 and for the first time ever it is set to unveil its highest ever resolution camera. The 16MP primary camera also comes with features like Optical Image Stabilization, Face detection and other features to help improve the quality. The secondary camera is 5MP as is sufficient for taking selfies. It is evident that Samsung is working rigorously to attract buyers by improving the camera quality and giving the best possible features to increase competition.

Chipset: The Samsung Galaxy S6 operates on the usual TouchWiz User interface but works on its own Exynos 7420 chipset and not the usual Snapdragon chipset.

Processor: It is said to have either a 1.2 GHz or 1.9 GHz Quad core processor. The performance of the phone on a 1.2 GHz processor will be highly affected.

Memory and RAM: The phone also offers a 32GB internal memory with a 3GB RAM.

Wireless charging facility: Wireless charging has been the talk of the century and finally Samsung has promised to introduce this feature with the S6. Samsung has recently confirmed this feature in the S6 and Edge phones. It will be the first gadget to facilitate this feature. With that being said, there is a lot to look forward to from this mobile.

Mobile Pay service: Samsung is all set to unveil its mobile pay service which will be featured in the S6. Like Apple Pay and Google wallet, Samsung is starting its own pay service. With NFC technology it makes it also makes it easier to share information between two handsets.

Bloatware: Most of the Samsung phones come with unnecessary pre-installed software and apps that just occupy a lot of disk space lowering the performance when other apps are installed. Samsung gives you one more reason to be excited about the launch of S6, all the bloatware is said to be eradicated.

Possibility of removable battery: The users hope for a removable battery with this handset. Samsung with the introduction of new metal body frame phones cut back on the removable battery facility. This has created uproar among the users.

Voice Commands and other features: New voice command features are also set to make the news. Features like Smartstay which gets the backlight on every time you look at the phone, Smartpause that pause the videos when you look are some that are likely to stay in both the models.

Dropbox: The phone also comes with a pre-installed Dropbox feature with 50GB free cloud storage.

Audio: The audio jack comes with active noise cancellation facility.

Colors: It is said to be available in four colors, blue, gold, white and black.

OS and User Interface: The phone has Android 5.0 Lollipop OS coupled with TouchWiz interface. You can’t expect pure android experience from Samsung phones but it is rumored that Samsung is trying to cut back on its UI to improve the performance.

Price: With all these features and more the price may also be set high. And Samsung is known for overpriced phones so you cannot expect anything lower than 30,000 for the features it offers.

No microSD slot: There is no separate slot for microSD which means there is no expandable storage. Now, the step to eradicate bloatware makes much more sense, doesn’t it? This is a very smart move by Samsung.

Its major competitors are Apple iphone 6 and Sony Xperia Z4 which is also said to release in the 2015 MWC meet. It stands tall and strong against iphone 6 but since Xperia also offers features along the same line, it is said to face more competition from Sony than Apple. Xperia also offers 20 MP primary camera with a great 3000mAh battery. With great additional features offered by both the makers, it will all come down to the performance and battery life.

Samsung Galaxy’s S6 is set to rule the markets with its 21MP primary camera and power packed features. This handset is the saving grace for the company and if it fails to attract buyers, Samsung will suffer a huge loss and will seen be overthrown by makers like Xiaomi and Micromax. Let’s wait and see if it can actually make up for all the loss that Samsung is currently going through.
